Irish born to German parents, Daniel Holfeld grew up in Ireland only to chase the sun through his lens. Having graduated with a BA [Hons] in photography, Daniel’s origins are based in fine art, initially exhibiting his work in the New York Photo Festival, followed by exhibitions in London and Paris. Daniel sold many pieces during this and became a collectable photographer within the art world.

Developing on from fine arts, Daniel began travelling with his lens. His first stop was documentary work in the Eastern Cape of South Africa where he photographed orphans affected by poverty and disease. This assignment showed his versatility and capability to adapt to the subject and environment. This initial experience ignited a deep love of travel and adventure. Here Daniel learned he could make anywhere his studio and so began his venture in to commercial photography.

Not one to shy away from a challenge Daniel relocated to Cape Town, where he immersed himself in fashion work and shot successfully for magazines such as The Sunday Times Style Magazine, Tatler and GQ South Africa. Moving on from this, Daniel began to focus solely on fashion work and developed relationships with clients such as Sephora, Vita Liberata, Brown Thomas, Tommy Hilfiger, Dunnes Stores and L’Oreal.

Now based in Europe he has worked on fashion and beauty commissions in locations such as Miami, Oman, Dubai, Morocco, Venice, Amsterdam and Paris. Daniel is set to continue his work globally as he works closely with brands on a creative consultant level to ensure each shoot is unique to them.
